Are you still hunting for that elusive 40th Anniversary Zelda Switch 2 or Pro Controller? Best Buy might just have your back.
The US retailer has announced "late-night" store openings for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on November 5 at select locations. While the main draw is the game itself, Best Buy says "limited numbers of the 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 system and the Pro Controller will also be available." So if you've been striking out online, this could be your second chance.
But let's be real: "limited numbers" means you'll want to get there early. To see if your local store is participating, head to Best Buy's website and select your state and store. That way, you won't queue up for nothing. Still, with such scarce stock, there's no guarantee—so my advice? Show up early and keep your fingers crossed.
If you've been trying to snag these items online like me, you're probably used to the disappointment. The 40th Anniversary Switch 2 and Pro Controller vanished faster than you could say "hey listen." But this midnight launch might be your best shot yet.
In the UK, though, we're out of luck. Retailers like Smyths Toys and Currys haven't announced anything similar. I had the Switch 2 Pro Controller in my Nintendo UK basket the second pre-orders went live, but site crashes meant I could only check out with the game and its bonus gift. Since then, I've been searching high and low for the controller, but no luck—and the Young Link and Zelda amiibo haven't even shown up at UK retailers.
In the US, things are looking brighter. Not only does this Best Buy event give fans another chance at the limited edition tech, but you can also switch your pre-order from shipping to in-store pickup if you want to soak up that old-school launch atmosphere.
Can't make it to a late-night opening? Bookmark the stores on our Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary pre-order page and check back regularly. Stock drops are slim, but never say never. Will you be lining up for this one?
