Twitch CEO: GTA 6 Multiplayer Launching Next Year

Did you think you'd be waiting until 2026 for GTA 6's online mode? Well, according to Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, you might not have to.

In a recent statement, Clancy revealed that he's "spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans" and that Grand Theft Auto 6's multiplayer mode will launch next year. That's right—if Clancy's info is on point, we could be diving into the next iteration of GTA Online in 2025.

Of course, Rockstar hasn't officially announced a release date for GTA 6 at all, let alone its multiplayer component. The game's first trailer dropped in December 2023 and confirmed a 2025 launch window for the base game, but since then, things have been quiet. Clancy's comment gives us a rare hint that the online side is being planned for sometime next year—presumably after the single-player campaign drops.

Why does this matter? GTA Online has been a massive money-maker for Rockstar and Take-Two, and it's kept players hooked for over a decade. A new multiplayer mode for GTA 6 could redefine the online open-world experience, and Twitch is clearly paying attention. Clancy's talks with Rockstar suggest the streaming platform wants to be ready for what could be the biggest game launch of the decade.

For now, take this with a grain of salt—Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything, and plans can change. But if Clancy's conversations are anything to go by, we might be grinding missions in a brand-new Los Santos (or wherever GTA 6 takes us) sooner than we thought.
