Ex-Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Reveals 12-Year Minecraft City

What would you do if you coached an NFL team for 18 years? Mike Tomlin spent his off-hours building a massive Minecraft city, and now he's finally showing it off.

Tomlin served as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2007 to 2025, a remarkably long tenure in the NFL. During more than half of that time, he was secretly working on a huge Minecraft city. He's now revealing it to the public in the first episode of a deep dive on his new YouTube channel.

In the video, Tomlin explains how the city began with his kids' participation, but as they grew older, it became more and more of a solo project for him. Much like the Steelers' roster changed every season, Tomlin remained the constant.

As you can see in the video, Tomlin put an enormous amount of effort into building this city. He created skyscrapers and nearby neighborhoods, but also sports stadiums. He said he'd go into more detail on these stadiums later, but the city includes a baseball field and a soccer pitch, alongside the obvious football field.

His son Mayce also shared that Tomlin would sometimes take his PlayStation, presumably due to a sudden creative spark. That's dedication.

Tomlin has a lot more time to focus on Minecraft since resigning as the Steelers' head coach following the 2025 season. During his tenure, the team famously never had a losing season, which might just change this year with a grandfather at quarterback and a defense that has major issues stopping the run. Pittsburgh native Mike McCarthy is the team's new head coach, and it's unclear if he plays Minecraft.

What do you think of Tomlin's secret Minecraft life? Will you be checking out his YouTube series? Let us know in the comments!
