Fanatical Deal: Marathon PC Drops to $19.39, Cheaper Than Steam Autumn Sale

Did you know you can grab Marathon on PC for under 20 bucks right now? While Steam's Autumn Sale has the game at $23.99, Fanatical is offering it for just $19.99. And according to price trackers, that's the lowest price ever on the U.S. side of Steam. Not bad for a game that only launched this past March.

Fanatical is a UK-based e-commerce platform under the Fandom umbrella, and it's one of our go-to storefronts for digital game deals. You're getting a legit Steam code, not some sketchy third-party launcher situation. So if you've been curious about Bungie's latest extraction shooter, this is a solid chance to jump in without breaking the bank.

Marathon has had a rocky road. The first trailers generated buzz, but a troubled alpha test and plagiarism allegations led to delays. During that time, Arc Raiders launched and added even more competition in the multiplayer shooter space. Still, Bungie reworked some assets and finally launched the game this past March. While it hasn't built a massive player base, the fans it does have are seriously dedicated.

That dedication likely comes from the game's hardcore gameplay and community focus. The developers have recently outlined plans to make Marathon more accessible with future updates, including a PVE mode. So if you've been hesitant because of the difficulty, changes are coming.

Having put my fair share of time into the game, I can confirm the difficulty allegations. But there's something addicting about that learning curve, especially with the loot and progression systems. At the end of the day, you get fresh Bungie gunplay in a disgustingly stylish world. IGN's Travis Northup said it best in his 9/10 review: "Marathon is unapproachable, unforgiving, offputtingly creepy, and has a playerbase of violent goblins who exist solely to bash your face in with a brick, and for all of these reasons it's become my favorite extraction shooter of all time."

Right now, we're in prime deals season. Besides Steam, Fanatical, and GMG, Amazon has a Prime Day sale going on, which prompted competing sales from Best Buy and Walmart. We've been rounding up all the best gaming deals, but it's worth clicking around for anything on your wishlist.

So, will you be picking up Marathon at this price? Or are you holding out for an even deeper discount? Let us know in the comments!
