Standard matches last five rounds, with players or teams struggling to complete objectives. Instead of picking a mission from a book, each player brings two choices for game type (goals both sides work toward) and deployment zones (where armies and objectives go). Then choices are drafted: one person picks the type, the other the deployment. This system works really well and adds variety to matches. I love that players supply the choices themselves, so both sides end up with a scenario that isn't quite ideal. It keeps things balanced and interesting.

The best place to buy the StarCraft miniatures game is directly from the official store on Blizzard's website. There you'll find miniatures and the rulebook, but not the two-player starter set. The starter set is on Amazon or other third-party retailers, usually at a higher price.

Each player brings maps, mission cards, and other cards that define army composition and upgrades. Faction cards, picked before the game, set the number and variety of slots for core units, elites, or heroes like Raynor or Kerrigan, plus unique benefits or tags. These tags may be needed when selecting Tactical cards, which represent buildings from the RTS or perks that give bonuses, buffs, or more supply slots.

All troops and their info—stats, costs, everything—are on handy info cards. I love that I don't need to carry a rulebook; just a small deck of cards in my bag. It's incredibly convenient and much lighter. In practice, it's a smooth experience that keeps the focus on strategy and fun.
