Remember when a game's name was so weird it just stuck in your head? Australia Did It was already one of those. But now it's got an official subtitle that's so absurdly specific, it's almost poetic.
Designer Rami Ismail first shared the subtitle back in August. A localization report noted that the original title wouldn't work in certain territories and suggested "Australia Did It: End-of-the-World Railway Defence Business" instead. Ismail loved it and asked fans to help convince publisher Mystic Forge to make it official. This week, with the release date announcement, that wish came true. The game will officially be called Australia Did It: End-of-the-World Railway Defense Business (with American spelling, apparently).
So why does this matter? For one, it shows that sometimes the most ridiculous ideas are the best ones. The original name was already memorable, but this new subtitle adds a layer of self-aware humor that fits the game's quirky vibe. Plus, it's just fun to say.
But let's talk about the game itself. Australia Did It: End-of-the-World Railway Defense Business launches on Steam on November 10. A demo is still available, and if you haven't tried it yet, you should. It's not just a roguelite tactics game—it blends tower defense with unit management. You'll defend a base, then manage units to protect your train once it starts moving. The best part? You can combine units to create new ones with blended abilities. There's also a great positioning mechanic that adds depth to every battle.
We'll see if the full game lives up to the demo's promise, but at least it'll do so with one of the most memorable names in recent memory.
What do you think of the new subtitle? Will you be picking this up when it launches?
