Well, that didn't take long. God of War: Laufey only opened pre-orders on September 29, and it's already sitting pretty at the top of the PlayStation Store charts.
According to tracking data from PS Store DB, the game grabbed the No. 1 spot on last week's US pre-order chart. That's not a regional fluke either — it's holding steady high up the bestseller lists around the globe, which tells you everything about how hungry God of War fans are for this one.
Zoom in on the numbers and the picture gets even more impressive. Laufey is parked at No. 2 on pre-order charts across a huge number of regions worldwide, and it's consistently near the front of the bestseller rankings too. Players in North America, Europe, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia are all clearly paying attention.
If you've been following the chatter, you'll know there was plenty of debate about whether swapping in Laufey as the lead could hurt the game's commercial pull. Based on these pre-order rankings, that worry looks pretty unfounded — at least on day one, the protagonist switch hasn't scared anyone off.
One detail that's been getting a lot of play in community discussions: the Hong Kong store's standard edition is priced at just HK$388. Some players reckon that lower regional price could make jumping in a whole lot easier for folks who were on the fence.
For those out of the loop, God of War: Laufey is the next chapter in the series, developed by Sony Santa Monica and published by SIE. It's set to launch exclusively on PS5 on February 16, 2027.
