PS5 Adds Free Ad-Supported TV: Watch Movies and Shows for Free

You can find it in the Media tab on your PS5 home screen – just look for the 'Live TV on PS5' icon.

Getting started is a breeze. All you need to do is head to the Media tab, select the icon, and hit 'Sign In With My PlayStation Account'. Once you're in, you'll have access to over 100 live channels and a ton of on-demand content. We're talking news, sports, movies, TV shows, and even anime. It's like a whole new world of entertainment, right at your fingertips.

What kind of stuff can you watch? For movie buffs, there's MovieSphere, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault. If you're more into TV shows, you can catch classics like The Walking Dead, Community, Unsolved Mysteries, and Hell's Kitchen. Anime fans, don't worry – Naruto, Sailor Moon, and Death Note are all there, plus some Crunchyroll channels to satisfy your anime cravings.

Sports fans aren't left out either. You'll find programming from Fox Sports, Nascar, NBC Sports Now, and UFC. And if you're into news and weather, or even some creator content like Hot Ones and The Ringer, they've got you covered. It's a pretty solid lineup for something that's completely free.

Sony says they'll be adding more channels and content over time, and they're planning to expand to Canada and other regions down the line. This move is part of a bigger trend – Disney and Netflix are reportedly considering similar FAST offerings. It's a smart play, especially since Sony's previous paid TV service, PlayStation Vue, shut down in 2020 because it was too expensive to run.
