Did you know that a small early access shooter has reportedly raked in nearly $100 million? That's the word on WARDOGS, the multiplayer shooter from Bulkhead that's been quietly dominating since it hit early access in September.
According to an estimate from Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, WARDOGS has pulled in $86.9 million in revenue from around 3 million sales. That alone is impressive, but it gets better: when you factor in pre-orders, the total allegedly climbs to nearly $100 million, with sales reportedly closer to 3.2 million. To put that in perspective, that's said to be a third of all revenue generated by new IPs on Steam for the entire month. Not bad for a game that's still in early access, right?
Now, it hasn't quite matched the likes of ARC Raiders or Helldivers 2—two other multiplayer shooters that also had massive launches—but it's still a serious achievement. And remember, WARDOGS is only on PC right now. The developer has plans to bring it to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in 2027, so the potential for even bigger numbers is definitely there.
If you're already playing, you'll be happy to know that a major update is on the way. On October 15, Season 2 kicks off, and it's adding heavy rain to maps, which should make visibility a real challenge. There will likely be balance changes and other additions too, so keep an eye out for full patch notes.
Bulkhead has also mentioned that the price will go up over time, so if you've been on the fence, now might be the time to jump in. The game's early access review is worth a read if you want to know why it's so popular.
With numbers like these, it's clear WARDOGS is making waves. Will you be diving into Season 2? Let us know in the comments!
