Diablo 2's Annihilus Charm Just Dropped in Diablo 4 - And It's Still Insanely OP

Diablo 2's Annihilus Charm Just Dropped in Diablo 4 - And It's Still Insanely OP

Remember grinding for the Annihilus charm back in Diablo 2? Well, guess what - it's back, and it just surprise-dropped in Diablo 4 as a Unique Horadric Seal.

For those who never experienced the joy (and pain) of hunting one down, Annihilus was the crown jewel of Diablo 2's endgame. Even a badly-rolled one gave you +1 to all skills, +10 to all attributes, +10 to all resistances, and +5 to XP gained. It was the only small charm in the game that boosted both all skills and all attributes - and because it was small, it only ate up a single inventory slot. Basically, it was perfect.

So how do you get your hands on it in Diablo 4? That's the catch - it's still really freakin' hard. The community is still working out the exact parameters, but according to reports on Reddit and an in-depth video from Diablo creator Rob2628, one known method involves triggering an encounter with Uber Diablo. In every reported case, that seems to follow a battle with the World Boss Azmodan. Once that fight wraps up, an on-screen message warns: "Diablo walks the earth." Yep, that's your cue.

According to players who've snagged one, Diablo Clone drops the Annihilus seal when slain - just like in Diablo 2. And the passive buffs are every bit as gloriously, stupidly over-tuned. At max roll, you're looking at +20% to all stats, +20% resistance to all elements, +10 to all skills, and +10% bonus XP. That's a genuine game-changer for literally any build you can think of.

Best of all, you can re-roll it at the Cube until you land the stats you want. There is a small catch, though - reports indicate the seal becomes account-bound once you re-roll it. So maybe think twice before you start rerolling willy-nilly.

Honestly, even if you don't have the patience to spawn Uber Diablo - let alone beat him - this is just fun to see. Diablo 4 has been quietly stuffing all sorts of callbacks to older games into Season 15. The Diablo 1 campaign recreation as a Waking Nightmares activity got all the marketing love, but it seems there are still plenty of niche discoveries waiting to be found.

One thing worth noting: there's a broken Diablo 4 charm currently dominating Season 15, but Blizzard has "decided not to make changes to it" for now. So if you're thinking about chasing the Annihilus, you might want to strike while the iron's hot.

Will you be trying your luck at spawning Uber Diablo, or are you happy to watch from the sidelines? Let us know in the comments.
