GTA 6: Rockstar Promises No Compromises on Scale and Detail

Rockstar boss Aaron Garbut says GTA 6 dials up detail, scope, and interaction without sacrificing scale, calling it their most ambitious project yet.

GTA 6: Rockstar Promises No Compromises on Scale and Detail

Ever wondered if a game can truly have it all—massive scale and insane detail? Rockstar says yes, and GTA 6 is proof.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Rockstar boss Aaron Garbut explained that developers often have to choose between scale and detail. But not this time. "We went the other way," he said. "Everything is dialed up—detail, scope, breadth, scale, interaction, and density." That's a bold claim, but coming from the studio behind some of the most detailed open worlds ever, it's worth taking seriously.

Garbut also admitted that Rockstar has never "created anything close to this before." The pressure on the team is huge, but they're dealing with it by aiming to overdeliver. "As the pressure for us on this project is huge, we dealt with that by doing our best to overdeliver," he said. So expect a game that pushes boundaries in every direction.

Of course, no game can have everything. GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional stand-in for Florida, but it won't include Walt Disney World. Still, Rockstar promises the "full Florida experience." That likely means plenty of swamps, beaches, and chaos—just no Mickey Mouse.

We already know GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. And it's already a monster: reportedly close to 6 million copies sold, with over $570 million in pre-sales. That's before a single review has dropped.

Rockstar has also been dropping details left and right. This week alone, we learned the game will feature more than 170 animal species—including cane toads and monkeys—and a new dynamic weather system. So whether you're dodging alligators or getting caught in a tropical storm, Leonida sounds alive.

With all this hype, the big question is: can Rockstar really deliver on every promise? If anyone can, it's them. But we'll find out on November 19. What do you think—will GTA 6 live up to the impossible expectations? Let us know in the comments!
