Ever wondered how deep the relationship between GTA 6's Jason and Lucia will go? Rockstar has finally spilled some details, and it sounds like you'll have a lot of say in how their story unfolds.
In an interview with IGN, Rockstar North's Rob Nelson explained that physical intimacy is a "huge part" of a relationship, and that applies to Jason and Lucia. But don't expect a simple minigame—Nelson says it "has to be done right," and they're still iterating to figure out what feels right. The game's ESRB rating already mentions nudity and strong sexual content, and an international rating specifically cites "sex scenes." IGN even noted that when switching characters, you might catch Jason's POV while he's naked in the shower.
Of course, GTA has a history with sex-related controversy—remember the Hot Coffee mod from San Andreas? But so far, there's no indication that any sex scenes in GTA 6 will be interactive. Instead, the focus seems to be on the broader relationship system.
Nelson revealed that you'll be able to "role-play" Jason and Lucia's relationship, and it's "amazing." But here's the kicker: they don't have to be a couple. You can keep them as just partners in crime, no romance required. "I don't want to foist that upon players," Nelson said. The game won't give you a gameplay advantage for making them lovers, but they'll always have each other's backs. "Whether they're romantically close or not doesn't change that," he explained.
So how do you nurture their relationship? A dedicated relationship system tracks it separately from your criminal activities. You can spend time together doing things like kayaking or mini-golf, or you can bond by robbing stores together. "However players want to spend that time together, it will have a positive impact on the relationship," Nelson said. And yes, whether you've nurtured the relationship will affect how their story plays out.
The narrative setup has drawn comparisons to Bonnie and Clyde, and fans are already theorizing about whether both will survive—or if one might be working with the Feds. We'll find out when GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
