Minecraft LIVE 2026: The Sift Dimension, Ice Caves, and More!

Did you catch Minecraft LIVE September 2026? If not, you missed some huge news. Mojang dropped a bunch of announcements, and we've got the rundown.

The biggest reveal? The Sift is coming to Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027. That's right—the first new dimension in over 14 years! It'll join the Overworld, Nether, and End as the official fourth dimension. Fans had hoped for an End update, but Mojang's Jens Bergenström shut that down early. Those Enderman teases in the trailer? Just teases, apparently.

Next up: Ice Caves are the next game drop. These rare underground extensions of cold biomes bring glowing ice crystals and a new hostile mob, the frozen zombie. This chilly foe applies a stacking freezing effect with melee attacks—take enough hits and you'll freeze. It also throws ice balls that deal damage and knockback. But here's the cool part: you can use those ice balls too, either as weapons or to brew a new potion that freezes enemies. Normal zombies can even convert into Frozen ones when exposed to powder snow, which opens up some interesting mob farm possibilities.

Mojang also announced Sound Effects Packs for Minecraft Marketplace, coming later this year. These will let you customize your game's audio in new ways. Plus, Minecraft World is getting two major additions: the first official Minecraft hotel and the Escape the Nether rollercoaster. Both are coming to Chessington World of Adventures Resort next year, thanks to Merlin Entertainments and Mojang.

We also got a deeper look at Minecraft Dungeons 2. The story has you helping villagers find a new home in Bravehaven, but you soon discover a soul corruption in the Overworld. The world is more interconnected, letting you explore freely. You can jump now, with parkour sections and jump attacks. And the big hook? The Sift, a brand new dimension rich with souls. Dungeons 2 launches this Tuesday, September 29, with DLC planned post-launch.

Finally, Mojang kicked off the show with a new creator platform initiative. Details are vague, but it sounds like they want to make it easier for people to build experiences within Minecraft—possibly taking on Roblox. We'll share more when we know more.

So, what do you think of all these announcements? Are you excited for The Sift, or were you hoping for that End update? Let us know in the comments!
