Ever wondered what it takes to be a social media star in Vice City? In GTA 6, looking good isn't just for show—it's a survival tactic. Rockstar Games has spilled new details on the highly anticipated open-world game, and it turns out your virtual waistline might be just as important as your trigger finger.
Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson recently shared that, similar to GTA: San Andreas, you'll need to keep Jason and Lucia in top shape. That means hitting the gym, eating right, and getting enough sleep—because, in Vice City, vanity is everything. Nelson explained that your characters' physiques will change based on how you care for them, with visible muscle gains from working out and weight gain from overindulging. And if you think you can pull all-nighters like in the old days, think again—skipping rest or constantly evading cops will take a toll on them.
But why does this matter? Because Vice City is built around looks. Nelson says that how Jason and Lucia appear will "carry significant weight" when interacting with social media stars, celebrities, and tourists. So, if you want to climb the influencer ladder, you better start doing squats.
The game also aims to be more reactive to your choices, with consequences that "cut much deeper" than in previous GTA titles. And the NPCs? They're getting a major upgrade too. Rockstar spent years in Miami researching, meeting everyone from club promoters to ex-criminals to gun dealers, all to create the most diverse and detailed crowd ever seen in a game. They even brought in real race-car drivers to fine-tune the handling and over 50 street artists to paint murals.
Rockstar's LA office was dedicated solely to NPC development, using new tools to build a population that feels alive and unique. And with the ability to switch between Jason and Lucia seamlessly, you'll experience their journey together—or go solo if you prefer.
Nelson emphasized that these characters aren't empty avatars. "Their story becomes a journey you share with them," he said. So, are you ready to balance your workout routine with your criminal empire? Will you be picking this up when GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in November? Let us know what you think!
