GTA 6 Leaker Claims LA Noire 2 Is Rockstar's Next Game

What if Rockstar's next game isn't Red Dead Redemption 3, but a return to detective work? According to a reliable GTA 6 leaker, LA Noire 2 is next on the studio's docket. This info actually dates back to a 2023 4chan leak that was later reposted on GTAForums. The leaker claimed a sequel is slated, heading to San Francisco to hunt the Zodiac Killer, with a predicted release window of at least 2030 and aspirations of being a visual standard-setter.

Now, even 2030 sounds optimistic. Supporting GTA 6 will consume Rockstar's manpower through 2027 and probably 2028, leaving little room for another full release. But here's the thing: many of the same leaker's GTA 6 claims turned out accurate, like the dynamic between Jason and Lucia where you decide how romantically involved they are through your choices. That track record lends real credence to the LA Noire 2 mention.

And it's not just forum chatter. Take-Two, Rockstar's owner, has suggested LA Noire could be on the table. CEO Strauss Zelnick said at the iicon event in April: "There's nothing to announce on LA Noire specifically, and if there were, it would be Rockstar announcing it, not me. But in any case, with regard to our legacy IP, the teams are always looking at what we have and we're always thinking about it." That's not a confirmation, but it's not a denial either.

It's now been 15 years since the first LA Noire, a noir-y detective sim where you rumbled a drug ring infested with corruption in 1940s Los Angeles. It was ambitious, charming, and left plenty of ground for a revisit. A sequel set in San Francisco chasing the Zodiac Killer would be a wild shift, but Rockstar has never been shy about big swings.
