Arc Raiders and The Finals Are Heading to Film and TV

Ever watched a match of The Finals and thought, "this would make an incredible movie"? You're not alone — Hollywood apparently agrees.

Nexon, the parent company of developer Embark Studios, is partnering with Chernin Entertainment to develop film and TV adaptations of both Arc Raiders and The Finals. The news comes via Variety, and it sounds like the teams are keeping their options wide open — everything from full-length films to episodic TV shows is reportedly on the table.

The goal, according to Nexon, is to expand the worlds of these games in a way that "rewards the passion" of the players who've invested in them. That's a promising sign for fans who care about more than just a quick cash-grab adaptation.

Chernin Entertainment is clearly excited about the potential. David Ready, the company's president of film, called both titles "exactly the kind of opportunities we've been building towards," describing them as ambitious global IP with franchise-level potential across film and television. He also praised Nexon and Embark for crafting "visually stunning, atmospheric worlds that contain countless stories to tell," adding that the studio feels honored to be trusted with bringing those stories to screens.

Perhaps the most reassuring detail? Embark Studios says it will work directly with Chernin throughout development, making sure the adaptations respect the worlds and lore that fans have fallen in love with. Given how often game-to-screen projects stumble by ignoring their source material, that hands-on involvement could make a real difference.

Before you start planning a watch party, though, temper those expectations. There are currently no release dates or concrete specifics for either project, which means these adaptations are likely still years away from actually materializing.

In the meantime, Arc Raiders fans have something more immediate to look forward to. The game was one of the biggest releases of 2025, though it's lost some momentum recently due to a lack of steady, significant content updates. Later this month, Embark plans to test a PvE mode, giving players a chance to enjoy a more cooperative experience without constantly worrying about getting gunned down by other players. The studio was quick to note there's no guarantee the mode becomes permanent — it's simply exploring the option after players asked for it.

So, between a potential PvE mode and two franchises heading toward film and TV, it's a busy stretch for Embark. What do you think — would you rather see Arc Raiders as a movie or a series? And will you be jumping into that PvE test when it drops?
