Ever wondered what happens when a publisher loves a studio so much it decides to buy a piece of it? That's exactly what Bohemia Interactive just did with Polish developer Enjoy Studio.
Bohemia, the company behind DayZ and Arma, has acquired a minority stake in Enjoy Studio. Enjoy is the team behind Everwind, a sandbox survival RPG that has sold over 300,000 copies within six months of launching into early access. Bohemia published the title and will now become co-owner of a team it's been working with since 2024. The value of the deal hasn't been disclosed, but Bohemia noted this is its first investment in a Polish video game company.
"We have known Enjoy Studio closely for two years, and what convinced us most were the people behind it. We share a similar approach to making games and communicating with players," said Marek Španěl, co-founder and CEO of Bohemia Interactive. "Everwind has shown what this team is capable of, but this investment is not about a single game. It is an expression of our confidence in the talent of the entire studio and a step toward a closer, long-term partnership. We want to make the best games we can together and bring them to as many players as possible."
The partnership between Bohemia and Enjoy Studio began when Enjoy entered the Bohemia Incubator program in 2024. Through the incubator, Bohemia supports publishing teams and projects as a consultant and publisher. Bohemia explained that initial partnership evolved into a "close collaboration" and noted the investment is not a bet on a single game, but rather a vote of confidence in an "exceptionally talented team." Enjoy CEO Michał Baraniak said the deal will provide a solid foundation for future growth.
So what does this mean for you? If you're a fan of Everwind, this likely means more stability and support for the game's ongoing development. For Bohemia, it's a clear signal that they're doubling down on nurturing talent they believe in. And for the Polish game industry, it's another vote of confidence from a major international player.
It's not every day you see a publisher go from partner to part-owner, but when a game like Everwind hits 300,000 sales in just six months, it's easy to see why Bohemia wanted to lock in a closer relationship. The move also highlights the success of Bohemia's Incubator program, which helps smaller teams get their footing before potentially becoming long-term partners.
