Ever wanted to run around as James Bond wearing a comically oversized tie? If you're picking up 007 First Light on Switch 2, that dream is about to become reality. IO Interactive has finally announced the release date for the long-delayed Switch 2 version: March 18, 2027. And preordering nets you something no other platform gets.
We're talking about the GoldenEye Suit, which includes the suit and tie that Pierce Brosnan wore in the 1995 movie GoldenEye. Yes, that oversized tie. Brosnan rocked plenty of suits in the film, but this is the one everyone remembers, because that was just the style back then. It's a ridiculous, wonderful nod to Bond history.
Why is Switch 2 getting this exclusive? GoldenEye has a special history with Nintendo. The 1997 GoldenEye 007 game, based on the movie, is one of the most iconic N64 titles ever. So it makes sense that Nintendo fans get this particular outfit. It's a cool way to honor that legacy.
First Light itself has been a big hit. It scored great reviews and sold over 4 million copies, and that's before the Switch 2 version even launches. The game was originally supposed to hit Switch 2 alongside other platforms in May 2026, but it got delayed multiple times. IO cited a combination of factors for the delays.
Beyond First Light, IO is also working on a new fantasy game. However, after Xbox pulled funding, the studio laid off staff. Many fans are also hoping for a sequel to First Light, but no official announcements have been made yet.
So, will you be preordering 007 First Light on Switch 2 just to get that oversized tie? Or are you holding out for a potential sequel? Let us know in the comments!
