New Ocarina of Time Remake Clip Shows Ganondorf in Slow Motion

Did you catch that new Ganondorf clip for the Ocarina of Time remake? If you blinked, you might have missed it—Nintendo dropped a tiny 16-second teaser on the Nintendo Today! app yesterday, and it's giving us our best look yet at the King of Evil in the upcoming Switch 2 reimagining.

The clip focuses on everyone's favorite Gerudo villain, and Nintendo's official text sets the scene: "A man from the Gerudo, a tribe in which men are said to be born only once in a hundred years. He harbors a grand ambition to obtain the Triforce, a sacred relic rumored to grant the wish of any individual who touches it." Sounds about right for Ganondorf, doesn't it?

This new footage expands on the dream sequence we first saw during Nintendo's dedicated Direct earlier this month. You know the one—it's the scene where Ganondorf rides on horseback while a voiceover ominously says, "And now… An evil has appeared, yearning after that power." Classic Zelda stuff, but with a fresh coat of paint.

But here's the interesting bit: the remake isn't just updating the graphics. According to the Nintendo Today! post, this scene now runs in slow motion on Switch 2, whereas the original Nintendo 64 and 3DS versions showed Ganondorf moving at normal speed. It's a tiny change, sure, but it's another sign that this November's reimagining comes with some tweaks to the classic formula.

And speaking of tweaks, fans are still pretty torn about some of the promised changes. There's a dedicated jump button now, for instance, but Nintendo also chose to intentionally keep the loading screens from the original experience. Some players love the faithfulness, others want a full modernization—you can probably guess which camp you fall into.
