God of War Laufey Preorder Guide: All Editions, Prices, and Bonuses

First, the Standard Edition. It's available physically at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop, and digitally on the PS Store. So what exactly is God of War Laufey? It's the next mainline entry in the series, but instead of Kratos, you play as Faye—the powerful warrior Kratos married and who died just before the events of God of War (2018). The game picks up right after her cremation, when she awakens in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods. It's not exactly a peaceful retirement: she immediately finds a sword and battles plant creatures. Soon she learns that gods from various mythologies are vying for power, and she gets pulled into the conflict.

Faye is played by Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil: Born Again), and she's joined by a set of magical ribbons named Rue and a cosmic cube named Phranque. Combat is mostly sword-based and looks lighter and more fluid than previous God of War games. She can also use a bow and arrow, and since the Everywhen is the source of all magic, expect magic to play a big role in fights too.

The game is set during the events of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022), so it should fill in some gaps for fans of the Norse saga. With a physical edition confirmed and preorders live, now's the time to decide which version you want.
