GTA 6 on Switch 2? Nintendo Says Ask Rockstar

Will GTA 6 ever come to Switch 2? That's the question on everyone's lips, and Nintendo's new president, Devon Pritchard, just gave the most diplomatic answer ever. When asked directly by Variety, she didn't say yes or no. Instead, she passed the buck: “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.”

So basically, Nintendo is staying out of it. But that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from churning. Back in May 2025, a report from NateTheHate claimed Rockstar was running tests to see if GTA 6 could work on Switch 2. He was quick to clarify that this doesn't mean the game is planned for the platform—just that developers often test games on different hardware to check technical feasibility. So don't get your hopes up just yet.

For now, GTA 6 is only confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching on November 19. A PC version will likely follow later, based on Rockstar's history, but that's not official either. So if you're a Switch 2 owner, you're still in the dark.

That said, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has hinted that more games could come to Switch 2. He said the company “would not necessarily bring every title to the platform,” but sees a “great” opportunity for older titles. He also called himself a “big believer” in the Switch 2. Could GTA 6 be one of those titles? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, there's still some GTA love on Nintendo. GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition launched on Switch in 2021 and is playable on Switch 2. And let's not forget GTA: Chinatown Wars on DS, plus the original GTA 1 and GTA 2 on Game Boy. So it's not like Rockstar has ignored Nintendo entirely.

But GTA 6 is a whole different beast. It's the biggest game of 2026 and possibly ever, and bringing it to Switch 2 would be a massive technical challenge. Nintendo's stance? Ask Rockstar. Rockstar's stance? Silence. For now, all we can do is wait and speculate.

What do you think? Will GTA 6 ever make its way to Switch 2, or is it a pipe dream? Let us know in the comments!
