Hideo Kojima revived his Koji10 podcast to share Physint updates, including casting news, a finished plot, and filming set to begin next year.

Kojima Spills New Physint Details: Casting, Story & 2025 Filming

Did you ever think you'd hear Hideo Kojima talking about a new spy game that feels like Metal Gear Solid? Well, that's exactly what's happening with Physint, and the legendary director just dropped a bunch of fresh details on his Koji10 podcast.

After a whole year away, Kojima brought the podcast back for a massive 79-minute episode, and thanks to a summary by X user Genki_JPN, we've got the scoop. Physint is described as a next-generation action-espionage game and a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. Kojima even says it's a project to commemorate his 40th anniversary as a game developer. That's a huge milestone, and you can bet he's pouring everything into it.

So what can you actually expect from the game? Kojima wants Physint to evoke the roots of the Metal Gear Solid series, but he's not just making a copy. He's aiming for a new interactive experience with a different kind of spy action, packed with lots of new ideas. If you're a fan of his previous work, that should get you excited.

Story-wise, Kojima already has the plot locked in. He also revealed that he personally pitched every actor appearing in the game, and apparently 70% of them are Kojima fans. Many of the character names have been decided too. Filming is set to start next year, and actors Bill Skarsgard, Charlie Fraser, and Minami Hamabe have already been scanned for their roles. That's a pretty solid cast so far.

There's also some context you might remember: Physint made headlines recently after Kojima revealed that Sony was set to cancel the project as its publisher, which led to Microsoft picking it up. That's a wild turn of events, but it means the game is still moving forward.

At 63 years old, Kojima shared something pretty personal: he makes every one of his games as if it could be his last. That mindset probably explains why he's so dedicated to making Physint something special. It's a reminder that we're getting a project fueled by pure passion.

As for when you'll actually get to play it, don't hold your breath. Kojima's other game for Microsoft, the PT spiritual successor OD, is expected to release before Physint. And last year, Kojima himself said Physint was still 5-6 years away. So we've got a bit of a wait ahead.

Still, with filming starting next year and the plot already in place, things are moving. Will you be picking this up when it eventually launches? Let us know what you think in the comments.
