Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 Gets October Release Date, Plus More Anime News

Ever wondered what it's like to dive back into Night City's neon-soaked chaos? Well, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is returning for a second season, and Netflix just dropped a release date along with a fresh teaser.

At Anime NYC, Netflix unveiled a stacked lineup of anime reveals, and the big one is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, hitting the streaming service on October 20. The new trailer gives us a glimpse of the seedy underbelly of Night City and introduces a new cast of characters. This season follows washed-up legend Weak, revenge-seeking nomad D, chrome-obsessed Talia, and young cinephile Roman across 10 episodes that delve into themes of family, obsession, and legacy. Expect plenty of blood, neon, and cyber-psychosis.

But that's not all. Bass X Machina is a wild Western reimagining of Bass Reeves, a real-life figure who escaped slavery and became the first Black deputy US Marshal. In this steampunk world, Bass is a cyborg on a revenge mission. Produced by Mappa and Madhouse, and featuring Brian Tyree Henry in the lead role, this one arrives on November 3.

Sakamoto Days: Season 2 also got a teaser, though it was light on animation. It introduces new characters—Amane, Etsuko Satoda, and Yotsumura—who'll play big roles. The second season of this hit series about a retired assassin launches in January 2027.

Fool Night, adapted from Kasumi Yasuda's manga, is set in a dystopian future where Earth is plunged into eternal night. With animation by Sunrise and Shaft, it follows Toshiro Kamiya, who undergoes a risky procedure to pay for his mother's medical expenses, only to have his life unravel. It debuts on November 26.

Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 shifts the action from 17th-century Japan to London as Mizu continues her vengeance-fueled journey. It arrives in January 2027.

And for a dose of pure joy, Lego One Piece brings the live-action cast to the Grand Line in Lego form, with Usopp spinning tall tales. It's out on September 29. Plus, we got new key art for The One Piece, a reimagining of Luffy's early adventures by Studio Wit, premiering in 2027.

With so much on the horizon, which of these anime are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
