Rockstar Congratulates Remedy on Control Resonant Launch

Rockstar Games just gave Remedy Entertainment a big public shoutout, and honestly, it's nice to see.

The studio behind Grand Theft Auto took to social media to congratulate its friends at Remedy on the launch of Control Resonant, the latest entry in the Control series. "Congratulations to our friends @remedygames on the successful launch of Control Resonant!" the post read.

If you've been living under a rock, Control Resonant is developed by Remedy and has officially landed on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It's the newest chapter in the Control universe, and it's out right now.

But here's where things get interesting for longtime fans. Remedy and Rockstar go way back. Remedy developed the original Max Payne back in 2001 and Max Payne 2 in 2003, with Rockstar handling publishing duties. Around 2002, Rockstar acquired the Max Payne IP from Remedy.

Fast forward to 2022, and the two companies announced something a lot of us had been dreaming about: a Max Payne 1&2 remake. The two games are being bundled into a single project, built on Remedy's Northlight engine, and headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. Rockstar is footing the bill and publishing, while Remedy handles development.

That project is still in the works, and according to the source, the two studios are working closely together. No release window yet, so don't go clearing your calendar just yet.

So while we celebrate Control Resonant hitting shelves, it's worth remembering there's more Remedy goodness on the horizon. The Max Payne remake is coming, and the Rockstar-Remedy partnership seems as strong as ever.
