Ghost of Yotei Sales: 5.4 Million Units, $407M Revenue, Analyst Says

Have you been wondering how Ghost of Yotei is actually performing on PS5? Well, we finally have some unofficial numbers to chew on, and they tell a pretty interesting story. According to Alinea Analytics head of marketing analysis Rhys Elliott, Sucker Punch's 2025 sequel has sold around 5.4 million units, generating $407 million in revenue so far. That's a solid haul for a PS5 exclusive, even if it hasn't quite caught up to its predecessor.

For context, Ghost of Tsushima had generated about $418 million by the same point in its lifespan, which is only about 3% more revenue. But because Tsushima launched at $60 and had already been discounted to $45 less than three months post-launch, it moved nearly 7 million copies by that stage. Yotei, on the other hand, costs $70 and has only seen two small discounts, so it's pulling in more revenue per buyer. That's about 26% more revenue per buyer, which lines up with PlayStation's goal of extracting more revenue per player.

It's also worth remembering the install base difference. By this point in Tsushima's life, there were roughly 117 million PS4s and 10 million PS5s in the wild. Yotei is exclusive to PS5, which currently sits at nearly 100 million consoles. So the sequel is working with a smaller, next-gen-only audience, and it's still holding its own. Elliott notes that Yotei's revenue is beginning to flatten more than Tsushima's did, but he suggests the GTA-driven influx of new PS5s could soften that.

Other highlights from the analysis: physical copies made up a notable 36.8% of sales, and PlayStation Store discounts have been few and far between. Around 500,000 copies were sold in Q3 2026 alone. The digital Complete Edition, which includes new content like the recently released Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, has been picked up by 50,000 players in the two weeks since it replaced the digital base game. About 6% of the existing player base returned to check out the new content.

Despite the gap in raw units, Elliott is clear: "anyone who says that Ghost of Yotei is a flop is flat-out wrong." The game has proven to be an evergreen seller in a crowded market, shifting 1.8 million copies this year ($121 million in revenue) despite just two small discounts and competing with one of the busiest and highest-quality release calendars ever. Sony also confirmed in February that the follow-up "exceeded" Tsushima's sales and "significantly contributed" to its financial results for that quarter.

Ghost of Yotei launched in October 2025 and is exclusive to PS5. IGN gave it an 8/10 review, calling it "a predictable but well-executed story" through gorgeous landscapes and satisfying, fluid action. It recently added a new armor set based on PlayStation's The Last of Us. So, what do you think? Are you surprised by these numbers, or did you expect Yotei to trail Tsushima? Will you be picking up the Complete Edition?
