Mike Tomlin Reveals 12-Year Minecraft City, Launches YouTube

Did you ever think you'd see a Super Bowl-winning NFL coach become a Minecraft YouTuber? Well, Mike Tomlin just did exactly that.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers coach, who spent 19 seasons with the team and won Super Bowl LXIII, launched his own YouTube channel earlier this week. With a profile picture in front of NBC's Football Night in America logo, fans might have expected football breakdowns. Instead, Tomlin's first upload revealed a passion project 12 years in the making: a massive Minecraft city.

"You know, 12 or 13 years ago, when my kids were in middle school, they'd be in their room all weekend and have friends over. They were obsessed with playing this game, Minecraft, that I knew nothing about," Tomlin explained, with his son and channel operator, Dino, in the background. "I got interested because I just was mesmerized by what could occupy their attention for such large periods of time."

Tomlin admitted he lacked the "stick control" for Survival mode but found his groove in Creative Mode. "I like to build," he said. "I've always had an interest in architecture, and so forth, so I started doing this creative city. It was a means of spending time with them. They participated all over this city. All my kids have buildings."

As his kids grew up and their interest waned, Tomlin's only grew. Now, 12 years later, his city is a sprawling metropolis. In his video tour, he shows off a hotel with labeled rooms, a lobby, a ballroom, a pool, and even lighting considerations. "I was always inspired," he added. "I'd go places, and I'd see things and buildings, and I get inspired, I go home, and I work on it." He also recreated off-campus housing around universities after dropping Dino off at college.

Tomlin stepped down as the Steelers' coach in January 2026, and it's clear he's been keeping busy. The internet reacted with disbelief and admiration. Barstool Sports called it "UNREAL," while one X user wrote, "Mike Tomlin becoming a Minecraft YouTuber was not on my bingo card for 2026." Content creator @Krtzyy said, "I'm obsessed why is he genuinely a better builder than me."

Tomlin promised more videos exploring his city and teased something "I think you're going to find interesting." He's not the only celebrity gamer making waves—Obsession breakout Inde Navarrette and newly announced X-Men star Samara Weaving have also shared their gaming love.

Will you be tuning in to Tomlin's Minecraft tours? What do you think of his 12-year build?
