Witcher 3 Remaster Adds Xbox Play Anywhere, Free PC Copy for Owners

Got The Witcher 3 sitting in your Xbox library? You're about to get a free PC copy of the remaster, no strings attached.

CD Projekt Red announced today that when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's remastered update drops on September 29, the Xbox version will also support Xbox Play Anywhere. That means if you already own the game on Xbox, you can grab the PC version from the Microsoft Store at no extra cost.

The remastered update launches September 29 across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Yes, you read that right — Switch 2 is on the list, so Geralt's next-gen glow-up is coming to Nintendo's new hardware too.

There's one regional wrinkle worth flagging. CDPR says the PC version offered through the Microsoft Store in Japan will be the CERO Z rating. That marks the first time a CDPR PC title has carried a CERO rating at all. Importantly, this doesn't affect the PC versions already available on Steam or other storefronts — those stay as they are.

For Xbox players outside Japan, the pitch is simple: own it once, play it on console and PC. Xbox Play Anywhere has quietly become one of the better perks of Microsoft's ecosystem, and CDPR is now bringing one of the best RPGs of all time into the fold.
