Ever wondered what it's like to switch between two characters in a game without breaking the flow? Grand Theft Auto 6 is about to show you, and it sounds smoother than ever. With the game just two months away, Rockstar Games is finally opening up about how you'll control both Jason and Lucia.
In a recent interview with Dazed, the dev team spilled some juicy details about the dual-protagonist system. Remember GTA 5's character swapping? This is like that, but cranked up to eleven. You can be cruising down the highway as Jason, then suddenly become Lucia scrolling through her in-game phone in the passenger seat. And when chaos erupts—which it always does in GTA—you can fluidly switch between them: Jason swerves through traffic while Lucia pops off shots at pursuers. Talk about teamwork.
But it's not all action. After a successful heist, you can hop on a jet ski together, soaking up the sun in what Dazed calls 'bloody matrimony.' This is GTA's first real dive into romance, with the story focusing on a couple's crime-filled relationship where your choices have consequences. It's a fresh twist for a franchise known more for chaos than cuddles.
Fans of the series will remember GTA 5's three-way switcheroo with Franklin, Michael, and Trevor. That was revolutionary, but it felt a bit clunky—camera zooming out and back in. GTA 6's version sounds way more organic, especially since Jason and Lucia are a romantic duo, not just partners in crime. The seamless transitions between them could make the gameplay feel like a movie.
With the game launching on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, we won't have to wait long to test it out. But with all those leaks floating around, who knows what we'll learn before then? One thing's for sure: GTA 6 is shaping up to be a wild ride, and we're here for it.
