PlayStation State of Play September 2026: All the Big Announcements

Ever wonder what it's like to be a fly on the wall during Sony's biggest showcases? Well, the September 2026 State of Play just wrapped, and it was a doozy. Kicking things off with a bang, the show opened not with a game, but with a bloody scene from the live-action Resident Evil movie. Austin Abram's character, Bryan, finds himself swarmed by infected Raccoon City residents hurling themselves from rooftops. It's gory, it's intense, and it hits theaters September 18.

Then, Marvel's Wolverine clawed its way back into the spotlight with a new trailer ahead of its September 15 release. The focus this time? Bolivar Trask's mutant-hunting program and the creation of the iconic Sentinel robots. If you're a mutant-loving fan, this one's going to be huge.

Ghost of Yotei also made an appearance, and it's bringing a new hardcore roguelite survival mode to single-player. You can play as various characters from both Yotei and Ghost of Tsushima, including Jin Sakai himself. That drops October 1, so get ready to test your mettle.

Monster Hunter Wilds is getting a massive expansion called Ascendance, coming in 2027. It adds new monsters, gear, and locations to explore—basically everything you love about Monster Hunter, but bigger.

Metro 2039 showed off tense PS5 Pro gameplay, and it's looking like another masterclass in atmospheric dread. It launches February 4, 2027, so you have some time to steel your nerves.

Of course, no State of Play is complete without some surprises. Maneater is back with a sequel, because why not unleash your inner Jaws again? And Crimson Desert's next DLC, Charting the Unknown, follows Kliff and friends on a quest for purpose, starting October 15.

One of the most exciting reveals? The rumored Lego PlayStation set is real! With over 1,900 pieces, it's a 1:1 replica of the iconic console, complete with diorama scenes. Perfect for your shelf.

Final Fantasy Resonance got a new trailer showing off more HD-2D action, including a boss battle against Sephiroth (because one game can't contain him). A demo is available now, so you can jump in.

Gundam: Rogue Orbit finally got a release date—March 5, 2027—and the gameplay looks like it might break the Gundam game curse. You'll pilot a giant mech against even bigger threats.

Other highlights include Hunter's Moon, a folk-horror first-person game coming October 26; Uncanyon, an indie puzzle-exploration adventure; and Keeper, Double Fine's charming lighthouse adventure, which is out now on PS5.

Konami brought two new games: Rev. Noir, an anime-inspired RPG about stopping a deadly lightfall, and Rhapsody in Scarlet, a jazzy adventure set in 1920s New York.
