Ever just want to kick back, blast some Xenomorphs, and not have to worry about deep storytelling? If that's you, Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 might be right up your alley – but be prepared to mute the chatter.
This sequel to the 2021 co-op shooter keeps the core gameplay tight. You and your squad (AI or human) mow down hordes of the galaxy's deadliest creatures with an arsenal of cool guns. The action is fast, the aliens are plenty, and the satisfaction of a well-placed shotgun blast hasn't faded. It's pure, unadulterated alien-killing fun.
But here's the catch: the game can't seem to shut up. You're constantly bombarded with NPC dialogue, and not the good kind. It's the same lines over and over, and you'll hear them every time you replay a mission. "I'm just here to kill aliens with cool guns," you might think, but the game insists on trying to make you care about its story and characters.
The dialogue choices also feel out of place. You're in the middle of a firefight, and suddenly you're prompted to pick a response? It breaks the flow and feels more like a chore than an engaging narrative mechanic. After a while, you just want to skip it all and get back to the action.
For a game that's clearly designed for co-op mayhem, the emphasis on story and chatty NPCs is a misstep. It's like having a friend who won't stop talking during a movie – you love them, but you wish they'd just let you enjoy the explosions.
That said, the core loop is strong enough to keep you coming back. If you can tune out the noise, or maybe turn off the dialogue volume in settings, you'll find a solid shooter underneath. The game shines when you're coordinating with your team, calling out enemy positions, and unleashing hell on the alien horde.
So, will you be picking this up, or will the chatter drive you away? Let us know what you think!
