GTA 6 Download Size: How Big Will It Be?

Are you ready to clear out your entire hard drive for GTA 6? With the game just a few months away, fans are already bracing for one massive download. The question on everyone's mind: just how big is this thing going to be?

We know you can preload the game a week before launch, but that might be because you'll need every second of that time to download it. A recent ResetEra poll shows most fans are guessing the install size will land somewhere between 100GB and 250GB. That's a huge range, but given Rockstar's track record, it's probably a safe bet.

Let's look at the evidence. Red Dead Redemption 2, which came out in 2018, already required 105GB to 150GB depending on your platform. And games have only gotten bigger since then. With high-res textures, detailed character models, and massive open worlds, it's no wonder install sizes are ballooning.

But it's not just Rockstar. Call of Duty games used to be up to 150GB, and with all the extra content like Warzone and shared texture packs, they could push nearly 300GB. Fortunately, developers are starting to optimize better. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 made big changes to the installation process, and Marvel Rivals has shrunk considerably on PC and consoles.

So, is there hope that Rockstar has worked some technical magic to keep GTA 6's download manageable? With memory prices rising, not everyone can afford a quick SSD upgrade just for one game. But given the game's scope, we might still be looking at a hefty download.
