Palworld Palfarm Isn't Just Stardew Valley With Pals

Remember when Palworld: Palfarm first popped up last year and everyone immediately filed it under "Stardew Valley with Pals"? Yeah, turns out that's not quite the plan.

Palfarm was revealed as one of the next spinoff games spinning out of the survivalbox hit Palworld. It's a cozy-looking farming sim RPG that you can play solo or in co-op, dropping you into a more pastoral villager life alongside the game's titular Pals. Sounds familiar, right? That's exactly why people started making the Stardew comparison the moment it was shown off.

But according to Pocketpair, Palfarm isn't going to be like Stardew Valley, actually. The studio is pushing back on the idea that this is just a reskin of ConcernedApe's farming classic with Palworld characters swapped in.

Here's the thing, though: since that initial reveal, there hasn't been much new information about Palfarm at all. Details have been scarce, which is part of why the Stardew assumptions stuck around so long. When you don't hear much, your brain fills in the blanks with the most obvious comparison.

What we do know is that Palfarm is a farming sim RPG, it's cozy in tone, it supports both single-player and co-op, and it's set in a more pastoral villager life with the Pals. That's the foundation. Everything beyond that is still largely under wraps.

So if you were expecting a straight-up Stardew clone, it might be worth tempering that expectation. Pocketpair clearly has its own ideas about what a Palworld farming spinoff should feel like, even if we don't yet know exactly what those ideas look like in practice.

For now, Palfarm remains one of the more intriguing branches of the Palworld universe, a cozier counterpoint to the survival and creature-collecting chaos of the main game. Whether it ends up carving out its own identity or living in Stardew's shadow is something we'll only know once Pocketpair actually shows more.
