Nioh 3 Hell Rising DLC Takes You to Ruined Edo This August

Ready to sharpen your blade for a trip back to 1651? Nioh 3 is getting its first major expansion, and it's taking you straight into a ruined Edo.

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have confirmed that the Hell Rising DLC will launch on August 19, 2026. It'll be available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, so you can dive in on your platform of choice.

Hell Rising transports players to Japan's Keian era, a period you might not know much about. The expansion introduces a new open-field region to explore, which means more ground to cover, more secrets to uncover, and probably more ways to die. If you've played Nioh before, you know that's part of the charm.

But that's not all. The DLC also adds additional weapons to your arsenal, giving you fresh ways to carve through whatever horrors await. And if you thought the base game was tough, the expansion promises tougher enemies. Team Ninja isn't pulling any punches here.

The Keian era setting is a smart move. It's a time of upheaval and change in Japanese history, and a ruined Edo makes for a striking backdrop. If you're a fan of the series, you already know how much atmosphere matters. This expansion seems to be leaning hard into that.

With the August 19, 2026 release date locked in, you've got time to finish up any loose ends in the base game. Or maybe you're already grinding away, preparing for the new challenges. Either way, Hell Rising looks like it'll give you plenty to sink your teeth into.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to return to Nioh 3 for a trip to the Keian era? Will you be picking up Hell Rising when it drops this August?
