Wondering how long you'll need to set aside to blast through the Gears of War: E-Day campaign? Whether you want to finish the story before diving into Horde Siege or just need a break from multiplayer, we've got the approximate playtimes based on a few playthroughs.
So, how long is the Gears of War: E-Day campaign? The story campaign clocks in at around 11-13 hours. If you tackle the story plus major side quests, expect a standard playthrough to take 13-15 hours. And if you're a completionist aiming for 100%, you're looking at 15+ hours.
Even if you hunt down every collectible and complete all side quests, you'll finish Gears of War: E-Day in under 20 hours. That makes it a very reasonably sized game. For comparison, previous Gears of War campaigns usually last under 10 hours, with Gears 5 – the longest before E-Day – just tipping over that mark. So E-Day is the longest Gears game by far, but it never feels too long thanks to an engaging and moving story from start to finish.
Even if you're not a completionist, it's worth looking around for Hardcases. These contain Gears of War: E-Day mods for your weapons and armor, and finding them is much easier thanks to the clever Tac-Com mechanic. You can also get mods from completing side quests, so keep an eye out for yellow icons that indicate a nearby side quest.
Want to speed things up? Bring a friend along for the Gears of War: E-Day co-op campaign. That way you can tackle the story together and maybe even finish faster.
With a campaign that's longer than any previous Gears game but still manageable, you'll have plenty of time to complete it once or more and then jump into Horde Siege. So, will you be diving into the campaign solo or with a buddy? Let us know in the comments!
