GTA 6 NPCs Will Snitch If You Carry a Weapon in Public

Ever strolled through Los Santos with a rocket launcher on your shoulder and not gotten a second glance? That's about to change in Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar is making NPCs way more observant, and packing heat in public is going to come with consequences.

According to a New York Times preview, "a player in this one cannot whip out a shotgun or a rocket launcher and walk down the street without expecting the non-player characters to call the police." So, that means no more casual weapon display without a reaction. NPCs will actually act like, well, people, and that could complicate your plans for mayhem.

The game is also bringing back the six-star wanted level, as revealed in Netflix's extended GTA 6 preview. So, you'll still have that classic escalation of police response, but now the civilians might be the ones to tip them off in the first place. Presumably, just holding a weapon won't be as bad as firing it, but you'll definitely be on the radar.

This adds a whole new layer of strategy to how you approach missions and free-roam chaos. Do you risk carrying a rocket launcher through the city, or do you stash it and call it in when needed? It's a trade-off that could make stealth and planning more important than ever.

Players have already been buzzing about other GTA 6 features, like the ability to interact with dogs and the potentially complex love story between protagonists Jason and Lucia. However, the vocal stylings of Jason have not been well received, but the new NPC behavior is a welcome change for realism.
