Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Scores 94% Positive on Steam, Crushing Black Ops 7

Ever pre-ordered a game just to play its campaign early? That's exactly what's happening with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and PC players are loving it. The single-player mode is now live for pre-order customers, and it's already making waves on Steam.

At the time of writing, Modern Warfare 4 sits at a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam, with a whopping 94% of reviews being positive. That's a seriously strong start for any game—and especially impressive for a Call of Duty title. During the beta, early access only included a single mission, but now pre-order folks can play through the entire campaign if they want. What might have seemed like a risky move by Activision and Infinity Ward is actually looking pretty clever.

How does this stack up against the competition? Well, it blows past the initial feedback for both Black Ops 7 and Modern Warfare 3. We don't have exact numbers for every Call of Duty launch, but looking at Steam review charts from their opening weeks, neither of those games came anywhere close to 94%. It's a clear signal that this campaign is resonating with players in a big way.

The campaign itself features 16 missions spread across multiple global locations, and according to early players, Infinity Ward has crafted something special. Call of Duty campaigns have felt a bit forgettable over the past decade as multiplayer and Warzone took center stage, so seeing a solo mode get this kind of love is a welcome change—especially for those of us who cherish a good single-player FPS experience.

If you're feeling the FOMO, you can still pre-order to get early access. The full game launches this Friday, October 23. With reviews this positive, it's no wonder players are eager to dive in.

What do you think—will you be pre-ordering to play the campaign early, or are you waiting for the full release? Let us know in the comments!
