Get your Hoenn nostalgia ready, because a new rumor says Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are heading to Switch and Switch 2 on October 8.
The claim comes from Pokemon blogger pokesoku, who says the classic Game Boy Advance titles are getting ported to Nintendo's current and next-gen consoles. If that date sounds specific, it's because it is, and it lines up with earlier chatter from well-known leaker Shpeshal_Nick, which gives the rumor a little extra weight.
There might be even more on the way. The same reports mention that Pokemon Emerald could join the party too, meaning all three Gen 3 Hoenn games might end up playable on modern hardware.
Why does this rumor have legs? Look at what happened with Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Those Kanto remakes got ported to Switch and apparently sold well, which convinced plenty of fans that a Ruby and Sapphire port was only a matter of time. Nintendo has been steadily bringing older Pokemon games to its newer systems, so the idea isn't exactly wild.
That said, pump the brakes before you start planning your team. Right now this is just an internet rumor. Neither Nintendo nor The Pokemon Company has announced anything about Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald coming to Switch or Switch 2. No official date, no trailer, no press release. Until we hear it straight from the source, treat this one as unverified.
Still, October 8 isn't far off. If the rumor holds up, we'd probably get an official reveal soon, maybe during a Nintendo Direct or a Pokemon Presents. If it doesn't, well, at least we got to dream about surfing around Hoenn again.
Would you replay Ruby and Sapphire on Switch 2, or are you holding out for Emerald? Let us know in the comments.
