Yoshida: Sony & Nintendo Should Extend This Console Gen

Ever wonder why your PS5 and Switch are still getting new games while Xbox is already teasing next-gen? Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida has some thoughts on that.

Yoshida recently said that Sony and Nintendo should "keep the current generation as long as possible" because people are very happy using PS5 and Switch 2. Meanwhile, he noted that it's Xbox's "time to play" when it comes to moving to the next generation.

That's a pretty interesting take from someone who spent decades at PlayStation. Yoshida's point seems to be that there's no rush to move on when players are still engaged and satisfied with what they have.

After all, the PS5 and Switch 2 are both selling well and have plenty of life left in them. Why rock the boat? Xbox, on the other hand, seems ready to push forward with new hardware.

The comment also highlights a key difference in strategy. Sony and Nintendo are content to ride their current consoles for a while longer, while Microsoft appears eager to kick off the next console war.
