Ever wondered why every Paladin in your raid group seems suspiciously well-prepared? World of Warcraft's own developers might have just confirmed your suspicions.
Speaking to GameSpot at BlizzCon, senior game designer Josh Greenfield and senior art director Jeff Parrott sat down to chat about their favorite and most-played classes. Parrott stuck with Hunter, but Greenfield's well-known Paladin loyalty got a little more airtime. His verdict? The Paladin is "certainly" a dad class.
"You know, I'm not a dad, I'm a dog dad, but I've got the dad bod, so Paladin is totally a dad class," Greenfield said. And there you have it, straight from a WoW developer: Paladin is officially a dad class.
Honestly, the stereotype writes itself. Paladins roll in heavy armor, heal their allies, protect the party, and bring that dependable, responsible toolkit you'd want from the class trusted to keep everyone alive while still putting out solid damage. It's the in-game equivalent of the guy who remembers the sunscreen and double-checks the restaurant reservation.
Of course, being a Paladin isn't actually restricted to dads. Plenty of non-dads main the class, and plenty of dads wouldn't touch it. But if you've ever run into a Paladin player who seems a little too enthusiastic about keeping the party organized, now you have a developer-approved explanation.
Give it time and Paladins will be offering to hold everyone's passport in the departure lounge. You know the type. You've probably grouped with them.
Meanwhile, there's actual content to look forward to: World of Warcraft Forever launches on November 4, with a playable beta going live on September 17. So whether you're a dad, a dog dad, or just someone with a dad bod, you'll have a fresh reason to log in soon.
