Want to dominate in Gears of War E-Day? Here are the best weapon mods and their locations to build the ultimate loadout.

Gears of War E-Day: Best Weapon Mods and Where to Find Them

Ever jumped into Gears of War E-Day and wondered why your shots aren't landing as hard as they should? You're probably missing the best weapon mods. Once you hit Act 2 Chapter 2, the map opens up and you're free to explore, but knowing which mods to hunt down first can be overwhelming. That's where we come in.

Weapon mods and extra slots come from Hardcases scattered around the map and from completing side quests. So if you want to streamline your enemy-killing efficiency, you'll need to track these down. Here are the best builds and where to find the mods you need.

First up, the Longshot. This sniper rifle is a one-hit kill machine, perfect for taking out enemy snipers and nearby foes with the Forged Barrel. The best build includes Full Metal Jacket (default), Skeleton Frame (default), Forged Barrel (found in a Hardcase under the Gears Statues in Act 2 Chapter 3), and mod slots from a Hardcase near the bloody fountain in Act 2 Chapter 2. No scope needed—the default is fine. Since you reload after every shot, accuracy is key, and this build delivers. If a mag capacity mod shows up, we'll add it.

Next, the Prototype Lancer. The iconic chainsaw gun is back, and you'll want the Chainsaw Autoloader (obtained during the 'Gear Up' campaign mission early on) for great synergy with Full Metal Jacket. The Holo Sight (in a Hardcase on the first floor, across the street from Carter's Place) is essential for toggle zoom. The Cover Brace (in the Hardcase west of the Courthouse) is a no-brainer since you'll often be behind cover. Extra mod slots are also in that same Hardcase west of the Courthouse.

For your Snub pistol, don't overlook it—it can save you in short-range fights or when you're out of ammo. The best build uses Full Metal Jacket (default), Aim Stabilizer (in a Hardcase south of the Bank of Tyrus), Extended Mag (default), and extra mod slots (TBC). This makes it more accurate and gives you a larger mag capacity.

Armor mods are just as important. Hardened Cover and Rock Steady are both in a Hardcase outside Amberstone Storage. Proximity Regen is in a Hardcase under the flyover at the south of the Chapter 2 map (where a very dark cutscene takes place, but no spoilers). This combo increases resistance behind cover and lets you regain health when killing enemies at close range, while Rock Steady improves accuracy.

Since you'll be searching Hardcases and doing side quests, you might want to check our guide on the Gears of War E-Day campaign length. And don't forget to bring friends—our co-op guide will help you share these mods. So, what's your go-to mod setup? Will you be hunting these down first?
