Did you wake up expecting a fresh Saros update today? Surprise! Housemarque just shadowdropped the Zenith update, and it's packed with new ways to get absolutely wrecked—or look fabulous while doing it.
First up, the new Carcosan Modifiers let you tweak the challenge even further. Zenith adds 10 new Trial Modifiers, like "Hostile Regeneration," which lets you stun larger enemies but forces you to finish them with a melee strike before they recover. Sounds stressful, right? Perfect for you adrenaline junkies.
Then there's New Game+, which introduces mysterious new nodes to the Armor Matrix back at Passage. These let you move through Eclipse Layers, ramping up the difficulty with new rules and deadlier enemies. During these layers, Arjun dons a golden crown and his armor glows—the more trials you have active, the flashier his gilded attire gets. And wearing the crown unlocks new story and lore entries called Visions. Fashion and lore? Yes please.
If you're more of a competitive type, check out Overlord Rush, accessed via the primary unit in Passage. It's a training simulation boss rush mode where you take down the fiercest Saros enemies and compete for a spot on global leaderboards. "Overlord Rush is divided into multiple Sets, each of which contains a different selection of Overlords," the PS Blog post explains. "The Incursion and Ascension Sets contain three Overlords each, and can be completed in 10 minutes, for a nice little Saros snack. The final Set is known as Totality. As the name implies, it lines up all eight Overlords from around Carcosa in one continuous gauntlet!" Good luck with that.
Struggling with the chaos? Housemarque has added a bunch of accessibility modifiers, including the ability to slow projectiles down for more dodge time. "You have control over how much the game slows down, and can even choose if you want the setting to kick in automatically during combat, or if you want to manually toggle it on when things get hairy," the blog says. There's also a new Auto Fire setting that fires your weapon whenever you're aiming at an enemy, plus motion sensor aiming for players who can't quite pat their head and rub their tummy at the same time.
Housemarque is clearly excited: "We here at Housemarque are super excited for everyone to get their hands on the new content Zenith adds. I can't wait to hear what players think about all the new control options, see your Crown-equipped Photo mode snaps, and compete (and likely lose) to your high scores in Overlord Rush."
So, will you be diving into the Zenith update and chasing those leaderboard spots? Or are you just here for the golden crown photo ops? Let us know!
