Capcom Hints at Devil May Cry 6 After Onimusha's Big Comeback

Remember when you thought Onimusha was gone for good? Well, it's back, and it's already a hit. Onimusha: Way of the Sword dropped last week on PC and consoles, and it sold a whopping 1 million copies on launch day. That's a huge deal for a series that's been sleeping for nearly two decades. In fact, lifetime sales for the franchise just crossed 10 million. Not bad for a game that many thought would never see the light of day again.

Capcom is clearly thrilled with this success, and they're already thinking about what's next. In a statement about the game's early sales, Capcom said, "In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on reactivating IPs that haven't had a new title launch recently." They also mentioned that they're working to "further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content." In plain English? They're looking to bring back more old favorites.

So, which games could get the revival treatment? Honestly, the possibilities are exciting. I'm personally hoping for Devil May Cry 6, since it's been since 2019's Devil May Cry 5. But I know Lost Planet, Viewtiful Joe, and Dino Crisis fans are probably screaming at their screens right now, and they have every right to. Capcom has a treasure trove of franchises just gathering dust, and any one of them could be next.

Of course, this all comes on the heels of a massive year for Capcom. 2026 has been a rollercoaster already, starting with Resident Evil Requiem in February, followed by Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection in March, and the surprise hit Pragmata in April. And they're not slowing down. Later this year, we've got Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen in October, a huge expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, and Resident Evil Veronica on the horizon. Plus, Street Fighter 6 is still getting love with post-launch content.

But the first taste of Capcom's reactivation strategy is coming sooner than you think. Mega Man: Dual Override is set to launch next year, and that's going to be a big test of how they handle bringing back classic series.
