Fancy earning $15,000 for beating a boss in a video game? That's exactly what Hytale founder Simon Collins-Laflamme is offering ahead of the game's massive Chapter 1 update.
The big update lands in Hytale early access on October 12, and Hypixel has already dropped a teaser trailer showing off what's coming. Among the highlights: a huge underground cave environment complete with acid rivers and waterfalls, plus a first look at an upcoming boss apparently called the Gobliterator — a hulking, charging, fist-pounding giant of a goblin.
He looks terrifying, but he might just make you rich. Collins-Laflamme took to Twitter to lay down the challenge: he'll donate $15,000 to the first streamer who kills the Gobliterator boss in hard mode, with no armor, no potions, no glitches, and in hardcore mode. Iron weapons from Exploration Mode are allowed, and the whole thing has to be streamed so the team can watch the VOD. His warning to hopefuls was simple: "don't cheat, bro."
He also clarified a few extra rules in the comments, noting it has to be a full legit solo run — no creative-mode shortcuts. And he's clearly curious about how players will approach it, wondering whether people will risk time practicing or just go straight for the kill.
If you're thinking this is just a publicity stunt, the evidence suggests otherwise. When several commenters said they'd love to take part but didn't own the game, Collins-Laflamme replied to many of them asking them to check their DMs — apparently sending out game keys so they could actually compete. That's putting your money where your mouth is.
