Ever felt like a game was holding you back from trying new things? That was the case in Mortal Shell 2, where the limited currency made experimentation a chore. But now, a massive Week 1 Update is here to change all that.
Released on August 29, this patch is a game-changer. It not only buffs some of the heaviest weapons—so your slow swings hit like a truck—but also overhauls the economy to be way more forgiving. No more hoarding Glimpses and Tarcores like they're the last drops of water in a desert.
Here's the deal: before, Glimpses (used to upgrade shells) and Tarcores (for Tarstones) were super rare. You'd finish the game and still feel like you hadn't scratched the surface. Now, new items like Fragile Tarstones and Glimpse Stones drop from enemies and can be bought from Merrick, the shopkeeper. They break after a while, but they give you the currency you need to max out your gear in one playthrough.
And for those who made a mistake investing in a shell you ended up hating? There's a new respec item called Mether's Severance. Give it to Zhirelle, the shell keeper, and she'll refund all your spent Glimpses. No more starting New Game+ just to fix a bad choice.
But that's not all. The patch also tweaks bosses, fixes glitches, makes ripostes hit harder, and stops enemies from chasing you across the entire map. There's even a teleporter in one dungeon to cut down on backtracking. Nice, right?
The catch? This update is only on PC for now. Console players will have to wait a bit longer, as certification takes time. But Cold Symmetry says they're working to get it to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as soon as possible.
So, will you be diving back into Mortal Shell 2 to take advantage of these changes? Let us know in the comments!
