RuneScape: Dragonwilds Hit by Corrupted Saves on Console

RuneScape: Dragonwilds landed as one of the big "day one" Xbox Game Pass releases of September, and it marks RuneScape's official debut on the platform. Pretty exciting stuff on paper. Unfortunately, the console version has been dealing with a rather pesky issue: corrupted saves.

Jagex isn't sitting on its hands, though. According to the studio, "The entire QA and development teams are working flat-out" to sort out the corrupted saves problem. That's a direct statement from the team, and it's about as clear a signal as you can get that they know how frustrating this is for players.

It's the kind of bug that can sour an otherwise exciting launch, especially when a game arrives day one on Game Pass and pulls in a huge wave of new players.

The timing is a bit of a double-edged sword. Dragonwilds hitting consoles alongside its 1.0 launch is a big milestone for the game, and being part of September's Xbox Game Pass day one lineup puts it in front of a lot of eyes. But a save-wrecking bug is the last thing you want when fresh players are deciding whether to stick around.

For now, the best move is to keep an eye on official channels for updates from Jagex while the teams work through the fix. Until then, you might want to be a little careful about how much progress you pour into a single save.
