Ever wondered if you'll hear that iconic Richtofen voice again? Nolan North, the man behind the mad scientist, is just as eager as you are.
Speaking at Gamergy in Puerto Rico, North said he hopes to reprise his role as Dr. Edward Richtofen from Call of Duty's beloved Zombies mode. "I just don't want it to be the end of Richtofen, and I don't think it is," he shared. But don't expect a quick return—North thinks 2027's Call of Duty might be developed by Sledgehammer, pushing a new Black Ops to 2028 at the earliest. That's just his guess, though.
North first voiced Richtofen in 2008's World at War and has returned many times under Treyarch. He called Richtofen one of his favorite characters, adding, "It's been such a pleasure getting to work with my friends for so long, just like Uncharted was." He also hopes to play Nathan Drake again, amid rumors of Uncharted 5.
As for Sledgehammer's involvement in 2027, it's not confirmed but has been reported since 2024. Their last lead project was 2023's Modern Warfare 3, so they might be due. Meanwhile, this year's Call of Duty is Modern Warfare 4, led by Infinity Ward, launching October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
Will you be picking up Modern Warfare 4? And do you want to see Richtofen return? Let us know in the comments!
