Did Hideo Kojima and Sony just have the most amicable breakup ever? Despite Sony deciding not to publish his upcoming game Physint, Kojima is still hanging out at Sony's offices and posting about it.
Just today, October 16, Kojima tweeted a stylish image of himself in a swanky lounge. He's rocking an all-black outfit, and behind him, a large LED Sony logo glows in the window. It's unclear which Sony office he's visiting, but he's clearly being treated well. And why not? Together, Kojima and Sony gave us Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding—two franchises that shook the industry.
This isn't a one-off visit, either. Just a few days ago, he posted more pictures from what was presumably a separate trip to Sony. So he's been frequenting the halls of the corporation lately.
Of course, things got complicated recently. Sony decided not to publish Physint after the project reportedly failed to meet multiple deadlines. Within days, Kojima secured a similarly sized deal at PlayStation's rival, Xbox, and announced that Bill Skarsgård would star in the lead role. His move to Xbox isn't totally surprising, since his mysterious horror game OD—starring Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer—was already in Microsoft's corner. Turns out keeping his options open was a smart move.
Whether this latest Sony visit means another deal for one of his other Kojima Productions ventures remains to be seen. But don't count on it—he seems to have his hands full. Still, it's good to know the friendship isn't done. I mean, who else is going to handle Death Stranding 3 when it happens?
What do you think? Will Kojima and Sony team up again, or is this just a friendly visit? Let us know in the comments!
