Did you hear the news? Control Resonant just hit one million copies sold, and it's now Remedy's fastest-selling game ever. Not bad for a title that had its digital launch leaked and pirated back in September.
Remedy celebrated the milestone on October 15 with a heartfelt post on Twitter/X: "Thank you for the support. For playing, sharing, and being a part of the community." Communications director Thomas Puha also chimed in, saying, "There we go. Strong start." That's a pretty chill reaction for a studio that just smashed its own record.
So how fast are we talking? Control Resonant reached one million in just three weeks. The previous record holder, Alan Wake 2, took two months to hit the same number. That's a massive difference, and it shows just how much momentum this game has.
What makes this even more impressive is that the game was pirated shortly after its digital launch in late September. Fans rallied, urging others not to download the illegal version. And it seems like that plea worked. On a piracy subreddit, one user wrote, "One of the very few games I'm going to be buying, Remedy are on the brink of bankruptcy, this is their make or break title, I love their games and gotta do what I can to keep them afloat." Another added, "I wasn't planning to buy it but now I feel like I should. I like Remedy. They do good games." Talk about community support.
Critics and players alike have been loving Control Resonant. We at IGN gave it an 8 out of 10, with reviewer Michael Higham saying, "Even when combat's sharp edge eventually dulls, Control Resonant is a great addition to the Remedyverse. While its story follows a more standard framework, its gravitational pull is in the inventive world built around it and the humanization that grounds the paranatural intrigue." That's high praise.
And there's more good news: physical editions of the game have just been released, so there's still plenty of profit to be made. Remedy is known for titles like the original Control, Alan Wake 2, Max Payne, and Quantum Break. While their games aren't always mass-market hits, they've built a dedicated fanbase. With these latest figures, it looks like Remedy is doing just fine.
