Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader's Final DLC Arrives This December

Did you think Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader was done? Think again. Owlcat Games just announced that the game's story will come to an end with its final DLC, Processional of the Damned, this December. That's right – the cRPG that launched in December 2023 is getting one last hurrah.

If you've been living under a rock, Rogue Trader is widely considered one of the best Warhammer 40,000 video games ever made. Its writing, characters, and narrative helped put Owlcat on the map, and its commercial success even led to another Warhammer 40K cRPG from the studio: the hotly anticipated Dark Heresy. But before that, Owlcat is closing the book on Rogue Trader three years after launch.

So what's in the final DLC? Processional of the Damned adds a new storyline, a new companion, a playable archetype, new enemies, gameplay features, gear, and more. Like the previous three DLCs, it'll be completely integrated into the main game, adding new quests throughout the main story.

Meet Stella, the miraculist. She's a frail-looking young woman raised by the Ecclesiarchy with powerful psychic abilities. Although she's an unsanctioned psyker, her order treats her like a miracle created by the God Emperor Himself. As the conduit of His will, she manifests unstable powers – shedding tears of blood and showing cracks in her porcelain skin. In battle, she emanates a devastating wave of psychic flares, dealing area-of-effect damage to those around her. She can learn to control her powers to some degree, but veil degradation and the power of the warp mean she'll never truly be free from peril and madness. Whether you forge Stella into a living weapon, make her your friend, or dive into the madness with her is up to you.

The DLC also includes a new Archetype: the melee-focused Zealot, who specializes in bludgeoning enemies to death. There's a new feature called Madness affecting all companions, plus new enemies from the ranks of the Arch Enemy and the Aeladari.

With Owlcat hard at work on Dark Heresy and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn – the latter being a departure for the studio – some have called for it to take on the tricky job of making Baldur's Gate 4. In a recent interview, co-founder and creative director Alexander Mishulin had a fun answer for fans when asked about that suggestion.
