Ever wondered what Bloodborne would be like on PC? One dedicated fan just spent 30 hours emulating it at 1440p and is convinced it belongs on the platform.
Using the shadPS4 emulator and BB Launcher, they followed a guide by YouTuber Retro Renew to get the game running. Despite some jankiness—comparable to an unpatched Unreal Engine 5 port—the experience was largely positive. They even managed 1440p at 60fps on an RX 9070 XT, though they note an RTX 3070 is likely the sweet spot for reliable 1080p 60fps. A Reddit user claimed it was playable on a GTX 1650, and Digital Foundry showed 4K 60fps on an RTX 4080.
The emulation isn't perfect. Two loading zones—the Grand Cathedral entrance and the Forbidden Woods elevator depot—often trigger a neon visual glitch that requires a reload. Troubleshooting didn't help, but the fan learned to live with it.
Beyond performance, the game itself remains a masterpiece. The atmosphere of Yharnam is still striking, blending Nosferatu and Lovecraft into black metal album art. The narrative, with its themes of motherhood and men ruining the world, feels more relevant than ever. Combat is punishing yet fair, and every weapon is distinct—no filler here.
The PC version also unlocked Chalice dungeons, including story-based ones the player never experienced on console. The system is poorly explained but offers unique asynchronous multiplayer and collective discovery.
Despite the quirks, the fan's love for Bloodborne shines through. They've grinded out their most powerful character yet and discovered new layers to the game. It's a reminder of why this PlayStation exclusive deserves a proper PC release.
